Blemishing the Odds by Harish Penumarthi- Book Review

Reading Blemishing the Odds was like reading my own school life with minor differences to it. After all, that first onset of puberty that made you indulge in your first crushes and brought about massive changes in your personality and your heart. Such is the story of Raghav who, in the course of the story became a friend of mine. Or rather I found my friends in him. A spoilt brat, an adamant rowdy guy who suddenly finds himself in the doorway of love when Trisha enters his heart, err, class. On a completely other side of this story, even I had a crush on someone like that a point of my life maybe that's why I enjoyed reading that part of the Novel the most. But a sudden shock changes Raghav to the core and he is going to be through the pain of losing the person he loves the most, his mother.

The odds hit Raghav like a truck, and the novel is the story of "Blemishing the odds" thus the title suits entirely! The cover image is that of a forlorn guy and a girl going far away which is apt for the story. The writing style is simple but not naive, however a bit more of complexity would have changed the book to the core!

I would like to thank the author for the review copy and also for a glimpse of the time while he wrote the novel, in the Acknowledgement section.

If you want a good story round the inner struggle and Romance genre, my recommendation is Blemishing the Odds!
