Book Review- In Love and Free by Jagdish Joghee

In love and free by Jagdish Joghee is rather a novella, not a novel and it is the best suited for the impatient readers who dont want to invest much time in reading one book. It is basically a medley of betrayal, hypocrisy, messy relationships and the quest of true love of a woman.

Cover - The cover is beautiful with an overall bluish  shade with a woman walking towards a lake in solitude and we can assume she represents the protagonist of our story, Shruthi.

Title - So, the title is very unique because no matter what we say, love binds us. We may think at times it suffocates us but when Shruthi tries to break free despite her love, her world comes crashing down.

Blurb - Shruthi has everything going in her life with great education, incredible romance, a wonderful husband, and two adorable kids. There is plenty of laughter, joy, and love in the cosy nest that Shruthi has carefully built.

All is well till that fateful Diwali day when passion gets the better of reason. One momentary lapse threatens to uproot the entire foundation of her beautiful life. The stakes are too high as Shruthi runs the risk of being abandoned by her husband and losing her children too.
And there is no one to blame but herself.
Caught in a cesspool of blackmail, ransom, revenge and remorse, Shruthi is on the brink of collapse. She can run but cannot hide.

Characterisation -

Shruthi - An independent woman, who had a very stable relationship with her husband Madhan since seven years. Her world is turned upside down due to a wrong step , a step she could not undo. She was dragged down a deep and dark well she could never completely come out of.

Madhan - The Man whom every girl longs for. He is Shruthi's husband, Who takes care of all her needs, works hard for her and their children. He had utmost faith and trust on Shruthi, till she breaks free.

Rahul - A womanizer. He attracts Shruthi to himself taking advantage of Madhan's preoccupied schedules and his unobservant eye. However, his real intentions are revealed in the course of the story that will shock you.

Other supporting characters include Meera, Deepa and Shruthi's father.

Plus points - An error free story telling, to the point narration with no beating about the bush.

Minus points - Might be a turnoff for novel lovers due to the less number of pages.

My Verdict - This book is a relief book. If you want to take a break or gift a good book, pick it up without a doubt.

Rating - 4/5.
